In 2001, Mystics of Pleasure became Pleasure Island’s very first nighttime Mardi Gras parading society, holding a parade and ball in Orange Beach in its inaugural year. Unlike parading groups to the west, marshals with the Mystics of Pleasure ride Harley-Davidsons, not horses.
This year’s theme is “Shot Through the Heart, and You’re to Blame,” in honor of Valentine’s Day. Expect at least 60 units in this parade, including marching bands, vehicles and 24 floats designed and built by the Barth Brothers of New Orleans, designer Patti Keenan and members. Costumes are by Beads by the Dozen in New Orleans.
In 2025, the Mystics of Pleasure paraded on March 1 at 6 p.m. The theme was Making Mardi Gras Great for 25 Years. Expect to see 17 floats, designed by Barth Brothers, Patty Keenan, and members. Costumes are by Beads by the Dozen in New Orleans.
