● The West Regional Revelers ‘Mask’querade Contest will be held at the West Regional branch of Mobile Public Library, 5555 Grelot Road. Age categories will be 5 and under; 6-8 years old; and 9-12 years old. To enter, you must pick up a white mask to be decorated and an entry form from Children’s Services at West Regional, starting January 16. Entries are due January 29. Friday, January 19
● 5 p.m. – Sixth annual King Cake-Off at the Mobile Civic Center Expo Hall. Local bakeries, eateries, and grocery stores compete to see who has the tastiest king cake or king cake-inspired treat. Family-friendly event features live music, local vendors, kids' activities, specialty cocktails, king cake tastings. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Gulf Coast. $15 for adults in advance, $20 at the door, $5 for kids 10 and under. (kingcakeoff.com)

Saturday, January 27
● 10 a.m. - Mystic Krewe of Salty Paws dog parade on Dauphin Island. The theme will be Mythical Creatures and Other Fantastic Beasts. Pre-registration is available through Eventbrite. On-site registration begins at 9 a.m. Cost will be $15 per person, regardless of how many dogs. Children 12 and under walk for free with an adult. ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) will have a merchandise table, be recruiting volunteers and fosters and have pets available for adoption. Prizes for Best Group, Most Creative, and Best Theme Representation.
